The 2019 Merlot The Expedition is another charming wine from this label. Giving up medium-bodied aromas and flavors of bright cherries, flowers, and leafy herbs, it has good freshness as well as a clean, balanced style on the plate. It's a terrific value at the price.

Made with the addition of 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Expedition Merlot begins with a dark ruby core with dusty plum essence, hints of wilted lavender and expressions of dark cherry skin. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a straightforward drinking experience with firm tannins that will remain food-friendly for the next few years. I recommend enjoying this with food. Over 40,000 bottles were produced after the wine rested in all French oak for a year.

Aromas of mocha, green garden herb and red fruit are followed by light, slightly green seeming flavors with grainy tannins. The fruit doesn't appear to have fully ripened.
