Light in the glass, this blend of 52% Grenache, 23% Carignan, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre combines grapes from the Santa Cruz and Gabilan mountains. Aromas of pomegranate, red currant and light herb lead into a tense palate of roasted cherry and fennel pollen.

The 2017 Homestead, Big Basin's blend of Rhône and Bordeaux varieties, is laced with bright, savory notes that give the wine terrific energy. Ripe red fruit, mint, flowers and dried herbs infuse the 2017 with notable complexity and character. This is such an attractive and expressive wine.

Plenty of crunchy black cherry and blackberry fruits, roasted herbs, and licorice notes define the 2017 Homestead, and it's medium-bodied, with a fresh, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. It's impeccably made. A blend of 52% Grenache, 23% Carignan, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre, it will keep for 7-8 years.
