Aromas of lavender, strawberry jam, raspberry pie, white pepper and hot sand lead to a full, rich palate with dense flavors and huge mountain structure. This wine will unfold for many years, and we believe, become something as singular and special as the place from which it comes.
The 2013 Grenache, from Paras Vineyard on Mt. Veeder, is deep, plush and bursting at the seams with intense red fleshed fruit. Succulent and beautifully layered, the Grenache oozes character. A hint of French oak shapes the finish in a racy, voluptuous Grenache that is an absolute joy to taste today.
From Mt. Veeder, the 2013 Grenache Paras Vineyard is another sexy style of wine, with loads of kirsch liqueur, licorice, earth and spice. It is not terribly complex at the moment, but this wine, which enjoyed 20% whole clusters, and was aged in older French puncheons, shows plenty of fruit. It is medium to full-bodied, low in acidity, and seductive. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
