Deep purple-tinged inky-ruby. Aromas of ripe cooked plums, herbs and balsamic oils. Fruity and dense on entry, but turns austere with slightly gritty tannins in the middle and on the medium-long back end. A touch of disjointed acidity doesn't help. Maybe I caught this in an awkward phase, but it seems like the grapes were technologically ripe but without having reached adequate polyphenol maturity in a hot year. Try cellaring this for a few years to see if it smoothens out, but I wonder.
