A new wine in this range, the 2017 Chardonnay Hawk Hill is laced with lemon, white flowers, chalk and mint, all of which convey freshness and energy. Medium-bodied and nicely focused, the Hawk Hill is another winner from Freeman.

The 2017 Chardonnay Hawk Hill Vineyard opens with notes of spring honey, dried acacia and baby's breath flowers with crushed stone, dried apple skin and oodles of white peach fruit at the core. Light to medium-bodied, it's mineral-tinged in the mouth with clean, pure fruits and floral notions, framed with juicy acidity and finishing long.
Wine Enthusiast

This tightly wound wine is reasonably ripe and smooth, light bodied, and gives an uncomplicated serving of apple and lemon flavors on a crisp nervy texture. It shows little oak influence, but subtle fruit, mineral and savory accents should develop nicely with time. Best after 2023.
