This limited production wine produced from 100% estate-grown fruit possesses remarkable aromatic notes of fruit and spices, such as cherry, strawberry, nutmeg, clove, curry, and white pepper, with hints of chamomile and vanilla rounding out the bouquet. Pouring forth from a robust glass bottle, the Luiano 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Ottantuno is 85% Sangiovese with 15% Merlot aged in large oak casks for 24 months. The wine opens to a dark color and thick consistency with baked plum, spice and cured leather. Fruit from San Casciano Val di Pesa tends to offer an open-knit and accessible quality. This wine ends with gentle, slightly dry tannins. Production is 5,000 bottles.
