Only 3,240 bottles were made of this special selection 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Marta Galli, a deeply concentrated and beautifully hearty wine that is oozing with dark fruit, smoke, tar and toasted spice. First produced in 1983, this blend of 50% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 10% other mixed grapes (those that are allowed in the appellation) sees 90 days of appassimento. It is fermented in stainless steel for 30 days and then transferred to tonneaux, where it ages for six years. The 16% alcohol content is strong but well integrated into the very thick fiber and volume of this full-bodied Amarone. Celebrate it with a nice osso buco and risotto Milanese.

Aromas of mature dark-skinned berry, cooking spice and cedar lead the nose. The concentrated palate offers blackberry jam, clove and licorice alongside polished tannins.
