Rich plums, cherries, and exotic spices on the nose. Dark cherries continue on the palate, along with créme de cassis, followed by a long, satisfying finish with firm tannins. Drinks beautifully now, but will be even better with a few years of age.

The 2020 Pinot Noir was aged for 11 months in only 14% new French oak. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol. This is the winery's blend from four vineyards, including for the first time some fruit from the winery's own estate vines. Light to a fault and friendly, this is hardly a profound Pinot, but it is hard not to admire its elegance and freshness. I'm not concerned about the modest color, typical of some Pinots, but it could use more concentration and structure both. It is not terribly expressive either. It is easy to drink today, and a couple of years in the cellar might at least bring a little complexity, making it a nice Bourgogne Rouge style. For the moment, its limitations are more notable than its virtues.
