Always true to its feminine name, the 2018 Emmaline Ann Pinot Noir is a textbook showing of the most understated, seductive and ghostly wine in the Cobb roster. The nose is filled with both fresh and dried flowers, sewn together with its classic pomegranate and Bing cherry fruit profile. The palate is long and clean with a touch more zing than I have found in past vintages, showing off a very enjoyable and refreshing note of tangerine zest which carries the finish beautifully.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1998 and is usually made with a higher proportion of whole cluster than other wines in the Cobb portfolio, around 40% to 60% depending on vintage. Pale, vibrant ruby in color, its scents of ripe cranberries and blood orange peel are pure and intense, with tones of earth and Angostura bitters. The palate is grainy and fresh with full, spicy flavors and a long, layered finish. It's a very pure, detailed expression of Emmaline Ann.- EB

The 2018 Pinot Noir Emmaline-Ann Vineyard is bright and effusive, with striking aromatic presence to match its gracious, mid-weight personality. There is a feeling of transparency in the 2018 that is utterly beguiling. Crushed red berry, orange zest, white pepper and crushed rocks are all finely delineated. A healthy dollop of whole clusters (40%) adds a brilliant upper register.

From a vineyard is situated roughly 700 feet elevation on a west-facing, cool site. the 2018 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard is ripe with wild strawberry, cinnamon spice, pine, and wet stone. The palate is fresh with crunchy red fruit, pomegranate, forest floor and tea leaf. The palate is medium-bodied and ripe up front, with fine tannins and fresh acid.
