Fratelli Revello Barolo Vigna Giachini 2021

At 70 years old, the estate's oldest vines are found in a 1ha plot on Giachini's south-facing slope at a modest 280m. The warmth of the site is palpable in the density, substance and ripeness of this 2021 – yet freshness still reigns, and aromas of wild flowers and forest floor are extremely becoming. On the palate, layers of dark raspberry take on earthy depths with mushroom accents, and the chewy tannins are pliant and give balanced support. A very juicy finish.

A very floral wine with aromas of potpourri, red fruit and citrus. It's a bit low key. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it shows ripe tannins, tight and integrated acidity and a balanced, toasty finish. Try from 2027.
