Original, complex, distinctive and yummy, all from a young vigneron who's restlessly improving every year. The vineyards are spread between Verzenay and Verzy both grand cru villages, with small holdings in the premier cru of Ludes. Alex Lallement explained the terrior of Verzenay as more masculine and higher in elevation, while Verzey is more feminine and perfumed.

Another cool, steely wine, the NV Brut Grand Cru Reserve Rose shows the tension and drive that is typical of Verzenay Pinot. Crushed flowers, sweet red berries, slate and mint all take shape in the glass. Even though the Grand Cru Reserve Rose is 100% Pinot Noir, it is the steeliness and energy of Verzenay that are center stage. Lallement added 9% still Pinot for this Cuvee. Dosage was 4 grams per liter. Disgorgement date: May 2, 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.
