René-Geoffroy Brut Rosé de Saignée
Vibrant acidity frames flavors of steeped white peach, raspberry, candied orange zest and smoke in this rich, expressive rosé. Well-balanced and lively, with a mouthwatering, spiced finish. Disgorged July 2015. Drink now through 2019.
The NV Brut Premier Cru Rose de Saignee is 100% Pinot Noir, all from the 2009 harvest. Kirsch, sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, mint and spices all waft from the glass. This is a pretty delicate, ethereal style of Rose considering the year and the saignee style, but the wine's balance is quite attractive. I imagine the Rose de Saignee will offer its finest drinking sooner rather than later. Disgorgement date: June 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.
This full, rich style of rosé gets its color from grape skins, which provides a touch of tannin as well as strawberry flavor and attractive acidity. It's definitely for food.
