The 2018 Cabernet Franc / Lemberger is a roughly equal blend aged for 16 months in older French oak of various sizes. It comes in at 13.2% alcohol. Pale in color and seeming not quite ripe enough, despite that 13.2% alcohol, this still has some virtues. Those include good structure, a spicy finish and a fresh feel, despite the wood. That does not completely save this, though, as it does not seem to express either grape particularly well. There's a theme in many of the 2018s I'm seeing-good structure but the fruit trailing along behind. Here, that might in part be due to the wood subduing the wine's personality a bit. However, in a tough year, this seems to show at least some effects of the vintage conditions. It's not a bad wine, but it seems a little compact this year.
