The colour is deep and bright. The nose reveals the very signature of this Monopole, conveying a powerful expression of red fruit - mellow yet jammy, fresh yet very ripe - combined with subtle toasted notes. The palate offers a fleshy and delicate attack that is particularly charming. The tannins are present yet refined, expressing the high maturity of this plot. The complex finish is always a revelation, with a resurgence of wild fruit aromas, a smoothness and saline quality (due to the marls) that imparts a crisp, fresh and very typical thirst-quenching impression.

This aromatic red evokes sandalwood, juniper, tomato leaf, incense and ripe cherry and currant flavors. Lithe and linear, with a firm line of acidity and tannins driving the persistent finish. Shows lovely harmony and a gossamer texture. Drink now through 2040. 160 cases imported.

The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse offers up aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy palate that's chunky and youthfully structured, in keeping with this clay-rich soil that reliably produces seriously age-worthy, albeit less polished, wines.

The 2022 Beaune Clos de la Mousse ler Cru comes from more clayey soils that obviate hydric stress. Very floral on the nose, I appreciate the purity of fruit: lovely red cherries and crushed strawberries, more Pinot & than the Les Teurons. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite sweet and a little confit-like but with fine structure towards the finish. It just needs a couple of years to absorb the new oak. Very fine.
