Its rosy appearance is soft as a dream, and an expressive, gourmet nose lends charm to this blend dominated by wild berries: gooseberry and raspberry reveal themselves in a crisp, silky palate enhanced with an elegant touch of minerality.
Ideal as an aperitif, to accompany tapas, but also goes well with all varieties of grilled fish, beef or fish tartare and fresh berry desserts.
Potentially one of the top rosÃ©s of the vintage, the 2017 Cotes de Provence Rose Cuvee de la Commanderie was still on the lees when I tasted it at the beginning of March 2018. A blend of 45% Cinsault, 29% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 6% Rolle and 5% MourvÃ¨dre, it's spicy and complex, with more weight and texture than most. Concentrated cinnamon, allspice and clove notes linger on the finish, more savory than fruity.
